programming contest! ^_^
hahaha.
how ecstatic can i get?
1230.
eric and i climbed up the too-familiar flight of stairs to the elementary building, which also housed the computer laboratories. we entered our previous-year-lab where the contest was going to take place. only mrs.delantar and jeff ( who was then taking a special quiz on circles) were there. written on the board were the names of the 16 delegates from the 8 fourth year sections, along side were the number of their corresponding computer terminals. i almost felt relief to see that i wasn't in computer number 12 (well actually, they were all odd numbers. haha). i was in computer 19. eric was in 17. slowly, the other contestants came, starting with Jon and cristina of harlequins. etc. and then, the contest began. handouts of the problem were given out. after reading the first few sentences, i realized i didnt understand a thing, and so i reread again. and again. after being satisfied that i understood, and after asking the proctors every other condition possible, i began coding...
when i tried running the program, and using the given example on the handout, and realizing that the answers were already correct, my heart quickly begun to thump, softly, and then increasingly becoming louder and harder. i mean, i could literally feel it beat! i quickly started editing the required output, when suddenly, two people passed their programs. i became nervous of course, frantically tried and tried my program until i was sure it was correct to the last letter. and then i raised my hand to pass my program. i was THIRD. after a minute, eric passed his, closely followed by grace. after unbearable minutes of waiting, the 2 checkers (mrs.delantar, and MS.furio), finally finished. something was wrong with one of the first passers, and with eric's. too bad, really. and so, the winners were somehow obvious already. ecstatic. ^_^
anyway, i just won in the intersection programming contest, not first of course, but hey, it was already something for me. i mean, i totally expected to NOT win, what with ken and eric? the results were totally unexpected, they both DIDN't win. well maybe i just underestimated the talents of other people, especially the likes of grace. no offense to her REALLY.
